In the early ’80’s I designed sweaters for Renee Tener for Jeanne Pierre. The photo on the model is an intarsia angora wool sweater with bat-wing sleeves. After many years the moths found it and had a feast. I decided it needed work…firstly I Eco-printed it with eucalyptus and iron to unify the colors. Then I altered the sleeves and began embroidering into the sweater with hand spun wool and needle felting with dyed fleece and then working into that with more threads. There was a great joy in using the original unusable sweater as a base for a creative transformation.
